Your RISE and FALL as a LEADER, or ASPIRING LEADER, will rest on one key competence—your ABILITY to JUDGE and INTERPRET people. How do we get better at sizing up first impressions? How do we spot a RISING STAR, POTENTIAL KEY ALLIES or LETHAL ADVERSARIES? Our primary instinct is to JUDGE people by their ACADEMIC SUCCESS, their SOCIAL STATUS, their ability to SPEAK ELOQUENTLY, and in these days of SOCIAL MEDIA, how many FRIENDS they have on Facebook, or how many PEOPLE follow them on Twitter. But what we often miss is the fact that such EXTERNAL FACTORS only tell a SMALL PART of the STORY. They are sometimes necessary, but as far as the COMPLEXITIES of life go, they are not enough.
